“All in Moderation”

“I think that everyone, man or woman, regardless of race, is entitled to enhancing whatever parts they like. But with all things “unnatural”, my motto is always: All in moderation. When ‘getting some work done’ becomes an addiction and you become a shell of your former self (see Heidi Montag), it starts to speak really clearly about your insecurities and your refusal to believe that 1. Everyone ages, 2. Nobody’s perfect, and 3. You are enough.

I knew this Corean girl in LA, who got double eyelid surgery when she was 13 because her mom made both her and her older sister have it done. Then, a few years later, a boob job. As she approached 30, botox and lipo were no-brainers. Needless to say, her mom, who created this plastic culture in their home, had lots done herself: breasts enhancement, double eyelid, lipo, botox, and God knows what else. None of them necessarily look better, just really unnaturally and falsely young.

Sad thing is, even with all these exterior “fixes”, the daughter was still the most insecure girl, resorting to getting high and partying all night and having many bizarre relationships with men well into her 30s.

Of course, this isn’t the case for every girl who gets a boob job. But unfortunately, every time I see a girl with fake breasts, I almost always immediately think: there was nothing wrong with you before, so what IS wrong with you now? Besides, fake boobs are seriously no fun in bed.”

“Barbies Need Not Apply.”

“Plastic surgery really doesn’t depend on the job that’s done, it depends on how many jobs are done.

I feel like most women usually get a nose job or a breast augmentation. Someone mentioned to me before that these days, the right of passage for Asian women is a breast augmentation. Which is totally not the case for me. I feel like women shouldn’t be embarrassed to hide or change their appearance, unless it’s necessary. We do, however, live in a time where we need to look our best physically to be successful.

Plastic surgery can only do so much before you begin to look plastic. My only concern with it is that women who get used to it and abuse it. They begin to change too many things and begin to look like a Barbie doll. It’s just like everything else, it’s perfectly fine as long as it’s in moderation.”

Bottom Line

Au naturale is preferred, but if you go under the knife, do so with taste and in moderation. It seems unlikely that you will meet an Asian male who prefers the plastic, but they won’t necessarily judge you (too harshly) for it once exposed.

Women who could write plastic surgery down as a hobby may need to rethink their strategy. If you are contemplating getting more than one of the following procedures, consider yourself entering dangerous territory: double eyelid, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty and liposuction. Plastic surgery may enhance your appearance, but ladies beware: there’s no going back.
