Sure, matte browns provide natural shading for any eyelids. But it can look boring, dated, and downright old fashioned.

The colorful shadows that we sent packing over 25 years ago can work well on Asian eyes today. In fact, some shades that look hideous on non-Asians can look perfect on Asians too.

Asian eyelids can handle almost any color eyeshadows, as long as they are applied lightly. The easiest transition from yesterday's browns is simply layering a pastel shade of choice over the browns.

If you want a complete departure, try muted shades like pewter, caramel, plum, and orange. Reserve the deep shades of blues and greens for outer eye accents only.
