How dependable is the sun protection in moisturizers?

When a badly formulated moisturizer rubs off or disappears, the sun protection
goes with it. Most large cosmetic companies formulate the sun protection in
their moisturizers to withstand about two outdoor hours and at least eight
indoor hours.
Plus the amount of moisturizer one needs to apply for proper sun protection makes it almost impossible to depend solely on it for protection.
