Hong Kong is set to transform its prime shopping districts into a runway-to-retail experience this September, following the August 18 announcement of “Wear’s HK” — a government-backed citywide fashion pop-up initiative organized by the Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency.
Running for 14 consecutive days from September 1 to 14, the initiative will span six landmark malls across the city, bringing together 20 of Hong Kong’s leading and emerging fashion designer brands under the theme “Strategic Retail Integration for Emerging High-Value Design.” The format is designed to collapse the gap between runway and retail: shoppers will be able to see, try on, and purchase pieces on the spot.
All 20 participating designers will also be featured in a cross-disciplinary promotional exhibit. The initiative is a flagship programme of the broader Hong Kong Fashion Fest, part of a government strategy to position Hong Kong as a fashion design hub in Asia.
