Does He Think You're Marriage Material?

     If you’ve been dating your man for over 6 months, you might be assuming it’s getting pretty serious. In reality, a guy can date a girl for years and never have any intention of marrying her. So unless he’s explicitly mentioned your happily-ever-after together, here are some clues to determine what he’s really looking for in a partner.

Have Your Own Life

     Men will be men, and a major driving force in their life is competition. If you’re too attainable (and I don’t just mean romantically), your price point lowers and he’ll wonder if you’re with him by choice or by need. If you are involved in your own aspirations, interests, ambitions and career, he’s much more likely to take you seriously because you take yourself seriously. Every now and then let weekend plans take a backseat to your workout, girlfriend date, or even a day to yourself.

Don’t Flirt Too Much

     A little jealousy can be a positive reminder that you’re a catch, but flaunting it in his face is a turn-off. Men aren’t that oblivious. If you’re flirting with another man to make him jealous, he’ll quickly catch on and it will just look like a desperate attempt to get attention, and let’s face it, no guy wants to commit to the biggest flirt. It also sends him the message that you aren’t trustworthy: how can you be teammates if you’re on the sidelines flirting with the competitor? Next time another guy approaches, be cordial and friendly, but always find your way back to your man.

Support Him

     In a marriage, mutual support is of the utmost importance. Your guy wants to know that when the chips are down, you’ll be there for him. Marriage is a commitment through richer or poorer, and rain or shine. If you show him that without a doubt you’re going to be there through the storm, he will respect you as a partner, not just a lover. Next time he comes to you in low spirits (even if it’s over fantasy basketball), kiss him and let him know he’s still number one.
